Bank reconciliation
Reconcile a statement against Xero
Run the Account Transactions report in Xero for the bank account, export it to Excel, and upload it with the statement. Debit and credit columns are read as money in and money out of the account, so the amounts line up with the statement without editing.
Step 1
Bank statement
PDF from online banking, a scan, or the bank's CSV or Excel export.
Step 2
Books
The bank account's register or ledger from QuickBooks, Xero or a spreadsheet, as CSV or Excel.
When this helps with Xero
Xero reconciles bank feed lines one by one. When there is no feed, the feed broke for a few months, or you take over a file where reconciled and unreconciled items are mixed up, matching the actual statement against the ledger shows quickly where the books and the bank disagree.
What you get
A workbook with the reconciliation statement (statement balance, deposits in transit, outstanding payments, adjusted balances and the difference), the matched lines, the outstanding book entries and the statement lines that are not in the books, plus a CSV of those lines in the Date, Description, Amount layout Xero's statement import reads.

Prices in USD are approximate. Checkout charges the exact amount in USD at Stripe’s exchange rate (a 2–4% conversion fee is included), or in euros if you prefer. No VAT or sales tax is added. Monthly, cancel any month. A statement is one uploaded statement file; matching it again or against a corrected ledger is not counted again.
Questions
- The signs come out reversed. What now?
- The tool tries both readings and keeps the one that matches more lines, and tells you when it flipped them. You can also flip the signs yourself in the column settings.
