Bank reconciliation
Match the bank statement to the books
Upload a PDF or CSV bank statement and the register from QuickBooks, Xero or a spreadsheet. Every line is matched; outstanding checks, deposits in transit and missing items come out as a reconciliation report.
Step 1
Bank statement
PDF from online banking, a scan, or the bank's CSV or Excel export.
Step 2
Books
The bank account's register or ledger from QuickBooks, Xero or a spreadsheet, as CSV or Excel.
1
Statement
The PDF from online banking, a scan, or the bank's CSV or Excel export. Read with a balance check, never stored.
2
Books
The bank account's register from QuickBooks, Xero or a spreadsheet. Title rows and totals are skipped; columns are recognised by name.
3
Match and review
Same amounts within days, check numbers, deposits that combine several payments. What is left is listed, with suggestions for likely errors.
The report
Reconciliation statement
Statement balance, plus deposits in transit, less outstanding checks, against the book balance adjusted for items missing from the books. The difference should be zero.
Matched lines
Every statement line next to its book entry or entries, with how it was matched.
Open items
Outstanding book entries with their dates and check numbers, and statement lines that are not in the books.
Import file
The statement lines missing from the books as a Date, Description, Amount CSV that QuickBooks Online and Xero import.
Suggestions, not guesses
Only clear cases are matched on their own: the same amount within days, the same check number, or receipts that add up exactly to a deposit. Everything else is left for you, with a pointer to the likely cause: the same amount weeks apart, an entry booked with the wrong sign, a fee taken off a deposit, two digits swapped when the amount was typed. A reconciliation that balances only because a tool forced a match is worse than one that shows its open items.

Prices in USD are approximate. Checkout charges the exact amount in USD at Stripe’s exchange rate (a 2–4% conversion fee is included), or in euros if you prefer. No VAT or sales tax is added. Monthly, cancel any month. A statement is one uploaded statement file; matching it again or against a corrected ledger is not counted again.
Questions
- Which accounting software works?
- Anything that exports the bank account's register or ledger as CSV or Excel: QuickBooks Online (Account QuickReport), QuickBooks Desktop, Xero (Account Transactions), Sage, Wave, or a plain spreadsheet with a date and an amount.
- How are lines matched?
- Same amount to the cent within 7 days (adjustable), best pairs first; checks by check number even months apart; and a bank deposit against several book receipts that add up to it exactly. Nothing else is matched automatically; near misses are shown as suggestions for you to decide.
- Are my files stored?
- No. Each file is read in memory and discarded, and the matching runs in your browser. Only the fact that a statement was read is recorded, for the plan limit.
- What does it cost?
- Without an account you can reconcile 1 statement a month, with a free account 3 a month. Starter is about $17 a month for 30 statements, Pro about $45 for 200.
